The Pinnacles, Cape Woolamai
I've been in awe of seeing photographers capture the fury and scale of The Pinnacles for such a long time - and on our trip to Phillip Island, a walk to Cape Woolamai was on the cards.
After a 700m walk along the beach (at a foot-wetting king tide), a climb up the stairs took us up on to the bluff for an easy walk up to The Pinnacles. With consistent wind and barely a cloud in the sky, the sunset wasn't shaping up to be anything jaw-dropping - but you can't control Mother Nature and just have to make do with what you've got - and yet the beauty of this place was not lost.
While I would have loved to have gone down to the shore, the roaring high tide, steep descent and signs asking you not to all combined to keep me on the heights of the cliff. Looking down towards these immense columns coming out of the coast, it really is jaw-droppingly amazing, and a place I want to revisit and spend some more time exploring.
