Solitude
It’s been a really challenging few weeks, and I needed to get away. So on a particularly Victorian winter’s day, headed down to the Otways and Great Ocean Road, with Hopetoun Falls, my happy place, as a my first stop for the day. As soon as you step out of the car, you look around for oncoming traffic - surely that was responsible for that background rumble? But no, recent rains have turned Hopetoun Falls from a peaceful and tranquil setting to a roaring and insanely powerful reminder of the violence in the landscape. Might not be as still as usual, but boy it is as beautiful as ever, especially when surrounded by a fine fog.
I’ve never been completely alone at a location like this before, and you get a reminder of just how big the world is when you can be in such an amazing location and be completely alone. And it’s just what I needed.
